Beginning in July of 2010, Foxchase Golf Club became the first golf course in the state of Pennsylvania to be powered by electricity generated from a solar farm. The solar farm is comprised of 1,320 individual solar panels that cover an acre of land. The system is expected to produce 360 mega watts annually and offset 3,600 tons of carbon waste.
Partnering with Foxchase Golf Club on this endeavor is Advanced Solar Industries located in New Holland, PA. You can read the joint press release by clicking here >> Foxchase & ASI Press Release
In addition to the powerful solar farm that was installed, Foxchase and ASI also put in place comprehensive monitoring equipment. The monitoring equipment places its data on the internet, and you can view it as well.

Electric Mower

Now that the installation of the solar field is complete, we seek to continue on our path of going green. To aid us on this journey, the Grounds Department recently purchased the NEW Jacobsen Eclipse 322 Hybrid mower. The Jacobsen 322 Hybrid mower is solely electric based, which not only is better for our environment, but also means significant cost savings on fuel.
This mower will lend itself to eliminating hydraulic leaks on the greens, produce less pollution in the air, and virtually eliminate noise while working around play on the course. Annually, it costs approximately five thousand dollars in fuel to cut greens. Our new mower will lower this cost to around two hundred dollars per year, simply for the cost of electricity to charge the mower. Overall, we are enthusiastic that the path to going green will create a significant savings for our operation. Look for the Eclipse out on the course; it is a great addition to our equipment fleet.
